Kirk Community of Friends Assistant
The Kirk Community of Friends is a ministry of Kirk of the Hills that extends God's love to people of all ages with intellectual disabilities through a variety of programs.
Position Summary:
TheKirk Community of Friends Assistant will work with the Director of the Kirk Community of Friends to plan and implement various programs including the Kirk Community of Friends ministry. This includes Special Buds at Kirk Crossing and Kirk of the Hills. Wednesday night classes, Friday Night Owls, Choir and Faithful Buds in addition to any new programs that may form under our Kirk Community of Friends in the near future.
Major Job Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain the Special Buds program at Kirk Crossing

Assist in the Special Buds program at Kirk off the Hills

Assist with the planning and implementation of Friday Night Owls
-
Assist with the planning and implementation of Faithful Buds
-
Assist with the planning and implementation of new programs that might form under the Kirk Community of Friends
-
Oversee the Wednesday night programming for children with intellectual disabilities
-
Assist with the recruitment and scheduling of volunteers for our various programs. This will include visiting local high schools, colleges, community colleges and home school organizations
-
Assist with the planning of curriculum and craft projects for Sunday morning, Wednesday nights and Friday Night Owls for both Kirk of the Hills and Kirk Crossing

Assist with any shopping activity for any of the Kirk Community of friends programs

Assist with the scheduling and record keeping for the certifications and training for volunteers and paid staff working in the Kirk Community of Friends ministry

Assist the Kirk Community of Friends Director in any project she may be working on
Skills, Knowledge and Expectations:

Strong Christian faith

Ability to organize volunteers and paid staff

Ability to direct and develop other teachers and volunteers as necessary

Ability to work with individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities

Ability to come up with ideas that will create new opportunities for our members at the Kirk and in the community with developmental disabilities

Ability to communicate well with the members of our programs and their families

Strong interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently

Experience with computer programs such as Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint

Effectively function in a team setting

Maintain a positive attitude with a high energy level while being flexible and adaptive
Educational and Experience Requirements:
High School graduate with either a Bachelors degree or currently working on a college degree or a master's degree preferably in a field related to special needs (education, physical therapy, recreational therapy.) Prior experience with children through job related activities, family or volunteer activities.
Relationships:
The Kirk Community of Friends Assistant will report directly to the Director of the Kirk Community of Friends. The assistant will work with staff, students, parents and volunteers that are part of the Kirk Community of Friends.
