Proposed Bylaw Change

After much prayer and discussion, the Kirk Crossing Session feels led to expand the size of the Session from six Ruling Elders to nine to better serve the congregation, oversee the work of ministry, and lead the church forward.  Expansion to nine elders would not be done all at once but would begin this year with the addition of one new elder position.  The two additional elder positions would be added over the next couple of years through our normal nominating process.
Therefore, the following change to Kirk Crossing’s bylaws is being proposed for approval by the congregation (verbiage changes noted in red):

5.4  Number of Elders. The Session of Kirk Crossing shall be composed of at least six Ruling Elders and up to nine Ruling Elders on Active Service, as determined by the Session.

5.5  Term of Service; Term Limitations. Ruling Elders shall be divided into three roughly equal groups such that not more than two three Ruling Elders’ terms expire in any given year. Initially, Ruling Elders shall serve the terms designated below:

Group A: Group B: Group C:

Date of election in 2019 to February 28, 2021 Date of election in 2019 to February 28, 2022 Date of election in 2019 to February 28, 2023

Beginning with the slate of Ruling Elders elected for the term beginning on March 1, 2021, Ruling Elders shall be elected to serve three-year terms beginning on March 1 and ending on the last day of February of the following year. Any Ruling Elder who has served all or part of two consecutive terms on active service shall be ineligible for reelection for one year.

Associate Pastor Nominee : Josh Weeks

The Associate Pastor Search Team is pleased to present Josh Weeks to be approved and called by the congregation.  After an extensive search, consideration of applicants, interviews, and much prayer, we believe that the Lord has led us to Josh.  Josh is married to Michelle and they have two daughters: Ryann & Peyton.

Below is a link to a helpful update from the Search Team regarding the process they went through as well as more information about Josh.

Nominees for Ruling Elder

Ryan Fulda

I am married to Katy and the proud father of Kinley (11), Claire (9), and Barrett (3). We live in Jenks and have attended Kirk Crossing since 2015. I began attending Kirk of the Hills in high school in the late 90’s when the youth group pastor was Sean Farver. Following high school, I attended the University of Oklahoma, married Katy, and then obtained a law degree. We moved back to Tulsa to be close to family. I am in private practice and focus on representing clients in disputes with insurance companies. Our daughters attend school at the Bixby West Campus. We’ve loved the Bixby School District and have been particularly appreciative of the attention and support it has provided to our 9-year-old daughter Claire, who is on the Autism Spectrum. Kinley is our extrovert and loves playing with friends at school, in the neighborhood, and at church. Claire loves thrill-seeking activities like rock-climbing and trampoline parks. Barrett is our ball of energy who we affectionally call “meat-head”.

Keri McKee

Kari moved to Tulsa in 1990, marrying Sean in 1993. They have four children: Kelsey (married to Hudson) Baab, Connor, Katherine and Caroline. They began attending Kirk of the Hills in 1994, moving to Kirk Crossing in 2019. Kari was at one time a lawyer, but became a stay at home mom after Katherine was born. She has served the church in various capacities over the years, teaching Sunday school, working in the nursery, and helping out with various projects and
committees. Most recently, she has worked with Embrace Grace, Good
Samaritans’ Womens’ Health Clinic, the Missions committee, and hopes to begin helping with Thrive. She has also volunteered with CASA as a children’s advocate. She enjoys reading, painting and traveling.

Franci Hillsman

Franci has been married to Mike Hillsman for almost 30 years and they have 2 grown children, Kait (25) and Michael (22). Franci was raised in the church. She and Mike joined Kirk of the Hills in 1993 and attended there until the Kirk Crossing satellite congregation was launched in 2011. Franci served in several positions at Kirk of the Hills, including EPC Elder, Deacon, Nominating Committee, PWOK Chair and elementary Sunday School teacher. She has participated in several small groups over the years at Kirk and Kirk Crossing. When Kirk Crossing became a stand-alone church, Franci served on the Steering Committee that planned and negotiated the separation from Kirk of the Hills.

Nominees for Deacon

Emma Smith

Emma Smith and her family have been attending Kirk Crossing since 2014. She and her husband Eddie are serving as Junior High student leaders after a year teaching Ignite students. She’s previously served with Kirk Kiddos and on the Missions team. Their daughter Ellivea is in 7th grade and attends Metro Christian Academy. Emma is eager to partner with the Youth Pastor and Kirk Families to serve our Students in a way that draws them in closer relationship with Jesus.

Janna Davis

I’m Janna Davis, nominee for Care & Concern Deacon at Kirk Crossing. My husband, Don, and I have been married for 25 years. We have 2 children: Maddie, a junior at Jenks High School and Miranda,
recently married, living & working in Oklahoma City. We have been calling Kirk Crossing home since 2018. I am a member of the Prayer Team and serve on the Hospitality Team. As a life-long Christian, I have always loved being able to care for others in my church family and I look forward to being a part of this ministry and sharing my gifts at Kirk Crossing.

Tricia Travers

I am Tricia Travers. My family and I have been coming to Kirk Crossing for a little over 6 years and it has been such a blessing to us. During the school year, you will find me teaching PreK at Jenks West Elementary and keeping up with Emma and Ethan’s after school activities.  I am honored to be considered to continue as the Preschool Deacon. I have enjoyed being a part of the Kirk Crossing Preschool team and watching its growth throughout the last few years.  It is exciting to see how this ministry area is such an outreach to many families in our community.  I am looking forward to seeing what God has planned for the preschool in the coming years.

Nominees for Nominating Committee

Emilie Bartel

Emilie Bartel is a founding member of Kirk Crossing and has been involved since it’s beginning days in a school.  She works in construction, facilities and real estate for an oil and gas company. Emilie serves on the hospitality team at the 10:30 a.m. service. She has been on mission trips to Mongolia, Peru, Northern Ireland and other locations with the church. When she isn’t at Kirk Crossing or working, you can find her outside with her dog Lucy or watching sports (especially OU).

Jarred Shaw

I have been attending church since I was two years old, and was saved as a child in a Free Will Baptist church. My wife and I have been at Kirk Crossing since early 2018. I enjoy serving on the Hospitality team as a greeter and as a teacher in the Kids’ ministry. I’ve been married to Jenny for over 29 years, and we have two married adult children and a grandchild. I enjoy spending time with my large extended family, traveling, fly fishing, and playing golf with my wife. We spend as much time as possible with our grand baby Louie! My favorite bible passage is Psalm 139.

Emily Miller

My name is Emily Miller. My husband Shad and I have been attending Kirk Crossing for six years and have been members since 2019. We are blessed to have three amazing children, Kellen (15), Eli (13) and Alexis (11). I’ve served upstairs with 1st-5th grade for the last four years as a small group leader and also serve on the Care & Concern team. This past summer, I had the privilege of working with Sarah Thompson on “Treasured,” a pre-teen girls’ ministry. My heart’s desire is for these kids to know that they have each been uniquely created for a purpose. What a joy it is to walk alongside them in this journey!

Christine Griffin

Blake and I have lived in Tulsa since the late 80’s having moved here from Texas.  We became active members of Kirk of the Hills shortly thereafter.  I am a retired Nurse – a lifelong passion – and continue to enjoy opportunities to volunteer in the community. My love of travel motivated several Medical Mission trips to South and Central America.
We joined Kirk Crossing within the last 5 years and we have enjoyed becoming involved in this growing Congregation. I was born and raised in Mexico City and love opportunities to use my second language. The most fun is as a Spanish teacher at the KX Preschool!  We are blessed to be the parents of our daughter Paige and our son Lance. He lives in Dallas with his wife, Liz, and our two joys: Reed and Hannah.

Jeff Showalter

Hello! My name is Jeff Showalter. My wife Lisa and I have been married for 10 years. After 12 years at Asbury Methodist (and a move to S Bixby) we attended Kirk Crossing in late 2019 as we looked for a church closer to our home.  Our first Sunday at Crossing we recognized this was a special place and our search was over. Our “kids”, Josh & Amanda Evers (along with grandkids Camden & Connor) began attending with us shortly thereafter and we all became members in 2020. I am a self-employed CPA for 35 years, and Lisa is a 30 year veteran of Williams Company. I am affiliated with Coaches Outreach, a non-denominational ministry that strives to impact communities through the leadership of coaches transformed by Biblical truth. I have facilitated the Bixby High School study since 2011.
