Nominees for Ruling Elder

Mark Soderstrom

My name is Mark Soderstrom. My wife Jamie and I have been married for 19 years. We have two kids, Drew (14) and Sydney (12). We have been at Kirk Crossing since it launched in 2010. I have served in the hospitality and children’s ministry for several years. I previously worked in the world of public accounting but for the last 7 years have been a real estate agent. It has been exciting to watch Kirk Crossing grow and evolve over the years and I am excited to continue to serve the church and be a part of the continued growth and evolvement!

Mike Anderson

My name is Mike Anderson I’ve been married to Sara for 32 years. We have three grown boys. We joined Kirk Crossing in 2019. This is my second year helping tutor in Thrive. I also went down to Honduras on our mission trip.

Jeff Showalter

Hello! My name is Jeff Showalter. My wife Lisa and I have attended Kirk Crossing since 2019 after 12 years at Asbury Methodist (and a move to S Bixby). Our “kids”, Josh & Amanda Evers (along with grandkids Camden & Connor) began attending with us shortly thereafter and we all became members in 2020. I have been a self-employed CPA for 38 years, and Lisa is a 31-year veteran of Williams Companies. We are members of a marvelous small group that meets Sunday mornings @ 9:15 (unabashed plug…come join!) and I was privileged to serve on the nominating committee last year. I am affiliated with Coaches Outreach, a non-denominational ministry that strives to impact communities through the leadership of coaches transformed by Biblical truth. I have facilitated the Bixby High School study since 2011.

Nominees for Deacon

Tracy Winterstine - Early Childhood

My name is Tracy Winterstine, my whole family, for the most part, attends Kirk Crossing. I have been attending since 2011 when I was invited by my brother and his family. I have volunteered in the early childhood program since 2014 and look forward to seeing the babies every other week. I have been married since 2009 but my husband and I have been together since 2001. We have a 10-year- old son, Lucas, and 2 dogs that keep us on our toes, Riley and Baker. During the summers I like to work at the preschool as it is a different pace compared to my full-time job as a special education para at Broken Arrow Public Schools. I have been there since 2009. I love the church for many reasons: It is my home away from home. The week just is not the same if I am not able to attend service. The church family is one like no other, and I have always loved how welcoming everyone is.

Stephanie Miller - Elementary

My name is Stephanie Miller. I have been married to my husband Austin since 2016 after meeting at Oklahoma State University in 2011. Together we have two daughters, Dylan (age 5) and Reagan (age 2.5), as well as three dogs. I graduated from OSU in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and then from Northeastern State University in 2018 with a Master’s of Science in School Counseling. I worked as a first grade teacher for 4 years in Title 1 schools, and then for 4 years as a 6th-7th grade school counselor. We attended our first service at Kirk Crossing in April 2021, and became members in March of 2022. I began serving in the Elementary Ministry in June 2022, and Austin began serving with me in September 2022. We love small group discussions with students and watching their faith grow and expand! I am excited for the opportunity to grow and support our Elementary Children’s Ministry!

Mindy Backes - Events

I’m Mindy Backes and along with my husband Jon, and nine year old son, Ian, have been attending Kirk Crossing since the first Sunday we moved to Jenks in early 2017 and were proud to be charter members. We are originally from central Illinois and moved from the Chicago area for Jon’s job with The Crosby Group. I have a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science and worked as a Certified Athletic Trainer in illinois prior to staying home with Ian. We felt so welcomed that first Sunday at Kirk that we never even thought about trying another church and it was also the perfect place to send Ian to preschool. We have been regular attenders of our small group and serve in hospitality together. I have served on the nominating committee and have volunteered with VBS for our tenure here taking on a director role the last couple of years. I am also very active in the Bixby West PTO and with Ian’s Cub Scout pack. My hobbies include papercrafting, exercising, and gardening. I have been blessed to have parents who raised me in faith since the day I was born. We feel very strongly that God has led us here, far from our family, to be a part of this family at Kirk Crossing. It has been amazing to see God at work in our lives by bringing us here and watching Kirk Crossing grow as an independent church.

Elizabeth Thompson - Events

Or some refer to me as the Lizinator! Kevin and I came to Oklahoma and Kirk Crossing a little over two years ago. Previously we had been Missionaries in New Mexico. (The land of Enchantment) We found it to be a very dark place with what some called it’s spiritualness. God grew us as we were able to share Jesus with 100’s of children during the 8 year period. Before this we lived in Indiana. After graduating from Purdue (almost twice) and while raising 2 children I went to work doing social work. I set up youth programs for the County. I worked for the schools, the Judge, and most of the youth nonprofits in Montgomery County… including some churches. I was very involved in women’s ministry at the church we attended. I also was on the missions board to help make decisions about the support we provided as a church to different ministries. We also started a marriage ministry using “Home Builders” (Focus on the Family). This was a great deal of fun and relationship! Kevin and I have been married for 35 years to each other. We have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. They all live out of Oklahoma but we see them yearly or more. We continue to do ministry work here with me leading a women’s micro group Bible study. We would like to try our hands and hearts at a marriage ministry but we are not sure where God has that yet. But I am all in!

Kay & Wade Huddleston - Care & Concern

We are Wade and Kay Huddleston and we have been attending Kirk Crossing since 2010 when we were meeting at Jenks West. We have been married for 12 years and have five grown children, Annette (Fred and Lilly), Tanner (Braeden), Pearse (Mel), Grant, and Gabbie and our sweet fur baby, Ryder. Wade works for Troon Golf as the Director of Golf operations at Page Belcher Golf Course one of Two City of Tulsa municipal golf courses, he has been there 15 years. Kay is an oil and gas accountant and has worked at the same company for over 34 years. We enjoy watching and attending all kinds of sports events, working out, walking, yardwork, golfing, cooking, and numerous other things! We began serving at Kirk Crossing by pushing tables up and down the hallway before & after service at Jenks West! We have both completed the EPC leadership course. Wade is leading a men’s micro group this spring, attends Sean’s Wednesday morning Bible Study, participates in the Men’s Fellowship ministry, and has been involved in various missions’ ministries (Thrive, Honduras mission trip, and various evangelism groups). Kay helped in the Children’s ministry area during services at Jenks West. Currently she is a small group leader for 6 – 8 th grade young ladies, a change agent for the youth, a buddy in the Kaleidoscope ministry, attends Women’s Fellowship ministry events, and previously served in Thrive. Together we have participated in many activities at the church from Bingo nights, trunk or treats, packing Thanksgiving boxes, Christmas decorating, etc. We believe that we are all called to serve, so it is an honor to be considered for Co-Deacons of the Care and Concern Ministry.

Nominees for Nominating Committee

Jarren Thomas

My wife, Chelsea, and I have been married for six years and have one son, Jaxon (3). We started attending and became members of Kirk Crossing in 2018. I served six years in the US Army and then earned a Physical Therapy degree at the University of Oklahoma. After spending a year in an outpatient clinic, I became a stay at home Dad. I began serving in the children’s ministry at Kirk Crossing four years ago and continue in this role, have volunteered as a Change Agent during Youth Retreats, am a member of a small group for families with young children and was a member of the mission team to Honduras in July 2023. I love that our church is All In and achieves a skillful balance of growing our personal relationships with Christ and application opportunities to bless and serve our Community and our World. I am eager to contribute to the Lord’s continued work at Kirk Crossing by assisting in the identification and selection of future leaders.

Jonathan Marcoulides

My name is Jonathan Marcoulides and I have been totally Blessed by being able to journey alongside my wife, Veronica Marcoulides, for over 17 years. We have 3 daughters Paige, Lisa, Mara who attends Kirk Crossing with us, 1 son Jordan and our granddaughter Maelee. My family joined Kirk Crossing when becoming an independent church and have never felt more at home. Veronica helps with the 1st graders and I help with the 4th and 5th graders. We love Kirk Crossing, our church family and Pastor Sean who’s messages always shine a light on how to be All In.

Derek Nestor

My name is Derek Nestor. My wife Heidi and I have been members of Kirk Crossing for almost 5 years. We are originally from Iowa, have lived various places across the Midwest, and have two grown sons. I am a veterinary internal medicine specialist and my wife is a mixed media artist and voiceover artist. We both grew up attending Lutheran churches and over the years we have experienced many denominations as we moved to different communities. Settling in Oklahoma and at Kirk Crossing has definitely felt most like home for us. Kirk Crossing’s dedication to studying the word and getting to know God, serving in our congregation and community, and reaching out across the world spreading the everlasting love of Jesus Christ are major touching points in my own faith. The Holy Spirit continually challenges me and I hope to serve His people in more ways everyday.
