The Lord has placed His people in the midst of a world that is divided and growing more divisive by the day. Because of this, our unity is more important than ever. But what is unity? What role does it play in the Christian life and the life of the Church?
In Ephesians 1, Paul tells us that the blessing of God, which includes our having been chosen, adopted, and redeemed, also includes the fact that He has made His will known to us. What is His will? “…to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.” God is repairing the cosmic fracture caused by sin, bringing all things together both ‘in’ and ‘under’ Christ. The unity of the Church in Christ is a picture of the full unity that the Lord will one day bring about.
In this message, we learn that unity is a gift, unity is essential, unity is ‘In Christ’, and unity is God’s will.
