While the Christmas season is familiar and even comfortable for us, it was anything but for the people who experienced the events around Jesus’ birth. They became aware, though, that God was doing something so amazing that they responded in faith and praise. Three times in the Gospel of Luke a song of praise bursts from the page and celebrates the faithfulness of God in the birth of Jesus. We are called to join in that praise!
The work of God in sending His Son began long before Jesus birth. The prophet Isaiah delivers God’s promise of judgment on a nation and kings that rejected Him but also His promise that a unique King and deliverer would one day be born; 11.1-9 describes just how remarkable this promised King would be!
