Hello, My Name Is (#5) - Judges 8.22-27
/

The next real person we meet in this series is Gideon.  The Lord used him in powerful ways to rescue His people and show His Glory, but that doesn’t mean that Gideon did everything right.  Gideon teaches us that we can ‘hide’ in either our fear or our pride, neither of which exhibit the kind of faith that pleases the Lord.  The end of Gideon’s story teaches us several lessons.  First, we must keep seeking the Lord and asking Him for what we need throughout our lives.  Second, we must beware of the little things; it’s often little things that add up to big departures from the life of faith.  Next we must never worship at the feet of our accomplishments or victories; it is always the Lord who is to receive glory.  Finally, we must remember where we come from; it is the Lord who has drawn us to himself and we stand, not because of what we’ve done, but because of what He’s done for us.  Stay hidden in Christ (Colossians 3), not the winepress!
