How Are You 5 (Psalm 103.7-12)
/
In this week’s message, we consider the truth that ‘You are forgiven.’  Drawing on Yahweh’s revelation of Himself to Moses, Psalm 103 celebrates the Lord’s compassion, graciousness, and long-suffering by which we receive His forgiveness.
Psalm 103 reveals that forgiveness is rooted in God’s character; it is not something He offers begrudgingly but, rather, generously. It also reminds us that forgiveness is an act of God’s grace; we certainly don’t deserve it but He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve.  Finally, Psalm 103 reminds us that forgiveness is God’s completed work.  As far as the east is from the west… that’s how far the Lord has removed our transgressions from us.
These are powerful truths, especially at those times when we carry a burden of guilt and shame around with us.  We must repent, ask forgiveness, and then trust in his sovereign mercy.
