Jesus teaches us that before we get to the ‘what’ of prayer, we need to be concerned with the ‘Who’ of prayer. “Our father in heaven, hallowed be your name” gets us focused on ‘Who’ we are praying to before we get to ‘what’ we’re praying for.
First, the God to whom we pray is our Heavenly Father. Psalm 103 reveals that our Father has compassion, understanding, and unending faithfulness for His children. So, we can pray without fear, shame, or doubt. Second, our Father is also our King. So, we must pray with reverence, humility, and praise.
