This message begins a new series called Like Stars. In Philippians 2.15 Paul tells the church that they will “shine like stars,” meaning that the church will not only be on display to the world but will shine the light of God’s truth, beauty, and goodness. This first message covers the letter’s opening and carries the theme of clarity. If the church is not clear on who we are, what God has called us to, and what we believe, no one else will be either.
In the opening of Philippians, Paul teaches that God has given us a clear identity (‘holy ones’/saints), a clear purpose (to be sanctified), and a clear standard (His truth). If we don’t have clarity about these things, we will never shine like stars.
