Made For This 3 (Exodus 3: 1-14)

As we continue to look at Moses’ call to serve, we discover three aspects of his encounter with the Lord that help us answer God’s call to share our faith with others.  First, like Moses, we have seen God’s glory.  We haven’t seen a burning bush but, by faith, we’ve seen the glory of God in the risen Jesus Christ.  That’s worth sharing!

Second, like Moses, we’ve learned our place in the plan of God.  The Lord revealed his plan to rescue the Israelites from Egypt and so commanded Moses to “go”.  Likewise, Jesus revealed the Lord’s plan for disciples to be made from all nations and told the apostles (and the Church after them) to “go”.  Like Moses, we are brought into God’s plan with a role to play.
Finally, like Moses, we’ve been promised the presence of God.  When Moses heard God’s command to go, he asked, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”  The Lord responded with the five most important words he could have heard: “I will be with you.”  It was the Lord’s presence and power that would ensure the success of the plan the Lord had made in the first place.  We, too, are promised the presence of the Lord as we fulfill his command to “go”.  Jesus said, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  We never share the Gospel alone!
