In this message, the Lord instructed the exiles from Judah to ‘seek the shalom of the city’ to which He had carried them. They were to settle down, build houses, plant gardens, and work for the betterment of the community; ‘its shalom’ would be ‘their shalom’. As we continue this series and learn more about how peace is not only something we receive from God but also something we do, we discover that we are called to seek the peace/prosperity of the communities where we live.
For us, this means that we, as peacemakers, will be models of God’s way of life, advocates for those around us, and witnesses of the hope we have in Him.
