John 11 is a dramatic chapter in which Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. While not a resurrection in the same way Jesus would be resurrected, it was a miracle that clearly foreshadowed it. Jesus’ indignation with the grief, pain, and loss he found when he arrived at the scene is an important part of the story. It pictures God’s indignation over sin and its consequence: death. Jesus is clear that his raising Lazarus would be a display of God’s glory. Likewise, it brings God glory to raise us from death to new life; we are living testaments to God’s glory.
