In this last message of the series we consider the fact that Jesus visibly ascended from the earth to return to His Father. Jesus had told his disciples several times that he would be going away. But it still must have shocked them when the moment came. It was necessary for him to go away, however. Somehow in leaving He became more present, not less. The Holy Spirit was soon to be poured out on them and they were empowered to undertake their mission. This passage helps us on our way to understanding not what Jesus did on earth but what He’s doing right now. He is at the right hand of the Father, for us. What an encouragement to our faith, our ministry, and our hope!
