These Are The Words (7)
/

The next church Jesus addressed was in the city of Philadelphia.  According to Jesus, this church had suffered and was in a state of weakness, at least from an earthly perspective.  Jesus introduced himself as the one who holds the key of David.  In other words, he is the one who grants access to the King, the Heavenly Father.  In addition, he indicated that what door he opens, no one is able to shut and what door he shuts, no one is able to open.

In this message, we learn that there is strength in weakness.  Our weakness, from and earthly perspective, makes room for the strength and power of God to be fully on display in and through us.  We also learn that some doors are shut to us.  As believers, we may find that we are ‘shut out’ by certain people, including friends and possibly family, because we now have a new allegiance and way of life.  Finally, we learn that we must hold on, no matter what.  What awaits us in eternity is far greater than any struggle we might face now.
