The final church we meet in this series was found in the city of Laodicea. This is a church that received a very challenging message from Jesus. Like the city in which they lived, they considered themselves wealthy, well taken care of, and secure in life. Therefore, they were not faithfully looking to the Lord. In fact, they were neglecting him. Like lukewarm water, Jesus threatened to spit them out. The good news, though, is that he was standing at the door, knocking and calling out to them.
In this message we ask ourselves three important question. First, what are we worth? In other words, are we offering our worship/allegiance to worldly wealth and thereby diminishing our own value or are we assigning the ultimate worth to the Lord? The second question is what are we seeing? Our consistent prayer should be that the Lord helps us to see ourselves as he sees us, not as we want to be seen or how we think we compare to others. Lastly, we ask what voice do we hear? We are surrounded by voices each and every day but are we hearing the voice of Jesus as he calls to us?
